From 1 February to 15 April 2025, PARA is residing in the former studio house of Joseph Beuys as part of the Brunhilde Moll Foundation's scholarship programme. During this time, the collective is focusing on the future of drinking water and making concrete preparations for the redistribution of this increasingly scarce resource in places of its apparent abundance.
In addition, the ten-headed and mostly decentralised group is examining its collective way of working as such and sets up its temporary headquarters in Düsseldorf. In the space at Drakeplatz 4, an installative sculpture is created over the working period that makes contemporary artistic labour visible.
The sculpture functions both as a Swiss army knife and a baton to fulfil the different artists' individual working methods and needs. It successively becomes work furniture, display, habitable structure, pumping station, fitness equipment, in short: it is both document and documentation tool at the same time. It changes its form again and again over the course of the residency, depending on which member is working on and with it on site.
